Was APC Chieftain Joe Igbokwe Kidnapped Recently?
On November 27, 2025, an X user @Ezepatricktwit1 claimed that an All Progressives Congress, APC chieftain, Joe Igbokwe, has reportedly been kidnapped along the busy Lagos-Ibadan expressway. The post which has a collage image of Joe Igbokwe, Nnamdi Kanu and Justice James Kolawole Omotosho was captioned, “Breaking: Joe Igbokwe Allegedly Kidnapped In Lagos Ibadan Express Way. He Go Accept Islam By Fire🤔”
When this report was published, the post had about 60,000 views and over 1,200 replies, reposts, quotes, likes and bookmarks. @OIfedi49490 in the comment section said “I honeself and earnestly pray that this will turn out to be true,I pray this happens so that they will know that they are not exempted from the insecurity ravaging nigeria”, while @skynat2025 wrote “No Yariba people have used him against his people finish now is time for them to finish him up because after selling out your own people to the enemy they will still come after you”.
VERIFICATION
Joe Igbokwe has held various official roles in Lagos State. Early on, he was the pioneer General Manager of Lagos State Infrastructure Maintenance & Regulatory Agency, and later acted as Chairman of the Wharf Landing Fees Collecting Authority, WLFCA, Apapa. Igbokwe is a leading member of All Progressives Congress, APC, especially in Lagos State. At various times, he served as the party’s Public Relations Officer, PRO/Publicity Secretary in Lagos, and former Special Adviser on Drainage and Water Resources to the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Igbokwe has publicly denied the kidnapping claim. Sahara Reporters quoted him saying, “That’s fake news. That thing you heard is fake news. I’m at my house now drinking champagne. Nobody kidnapped me; it is fake news.” He further stressed that he has not been attacked, kidnapped, or involved in any confrontation. The APC chieftain urged the public to disregard the rumour and cautioned social media users against spreading unverified stories capable of causing panic.
CONCLUSION
The claim that Joe Igbokwe, has reportedly been kidnapped along the busy Lagos-Ibadan expressway. is FALSE. No reputable news outlet or official police statement has corroborated the kidnapping and Igbokwe’s own direct denial strongly debunks the claim.
