VERIFICATION

In early 2025, Ghana had introduced a visa-free policy allowing all African passport holders to enter Ghana without a visa. This move aims to promote intra-African travel and regional integration.

Visa-free means you can enter certain countries without applying for a visa beforehand, usually for short tourist or business trips (e.g., 30-90 days), by simply showing your valid passport and meeting basic entry requirements like proof of funds or a return ticket

Within Africa, Ghanaian passport holders enjoy visa-free entry to 24 countries. This implies that they do not need to apply for a visa before travel to those African states, although conditions like length of stay and other entry requirements vary by country.

While the Ghanaian government has scrapped visas for all African passport holders to Ghana, this policy applies only to entry into Ghana and does not automatically grant Ghanaian citizens visa-free access to all 54 African countries.

CONCLUSION

The claim that Ghanaian citizens can travel to 54 African countries without a visa is MISLEADING. While Ghana has opened its borders visa-free to all African passport holders, this policy does not translate into reciprocal visa-free access for Ghanaians across the continent. In reality, Ghanaian passport holders can enter about 24 African countries without a visa, with others require visas on arrival, e-visas, or prior approval. ghanavisa
