Did Emir Sanusi Lamido Visit Ghana On Behalf Of Fulanis?

X user, @DrCroc28 claims that the former Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has paid a visit to Ghana, as there is an ongoing tension against Fulani Open grazing culture, Banditry and terrorism accusations.  The post which has images of the Emir of Kano, Lamido Sanusi and the Asantehene, His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is  captioned “BREAKING: Emir Lamido Sanusi (Emir of Kano State Nigeria 🇳🇬) has arrived Ghana as tension rises against Fulani Open grazing culture, Banditry and terrorism accusations mounts. The Ghanaian Military has declared «Operation Cowlegs » to expel all Fulani people out of Ghana as thousands of hectares of farms get destroyed through open grazing, villages raided and kidnapping of farmers.”

When this report was published, the post had 68,000 views and about 1,400 replies, repost, quotes, likes and bookmarks. In the comment section, @boronze wrote “Ghana 🇬🇭 pls don’t listen to anything that extremist has to say, don’t even give them terrorists fulani an inch to operate in your country,  learn from Nigeria” while @emetisuccess said “Ghana should never, even in their wildest dreams allow those Fulani to practice open grazing. They will terrorize your country. That’s what they’re known for”.

VERIFICATION

NV-A conducted a reverse Google image search on the attached images and the result showed that some related images were posted on December 20, 2025, by a user on X, while an online news blog shared the same image on December 21, 2025, where it was noted that the meeting between the Emir of Kano and the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II (identified in the circulating picture), was to revive ties between both kingdom . There are other posts with similar pictures, on Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok and X, stating that Sanusi arrived in Ghana

Recent online video content suggests the Emir has been in Ghana participating in meetings with the Asantehene (traditional ruler) and the National Imam. There is no reputable source that currently reports a security emergency in Ghana tied to Fulani herders. The widely shared posts appear to be unverified claims on social media, as it lacks attribution to recognised news outlets.

Moreso, Operation Cowleg is not new, it started in 1988 during Ghana’s Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC) era. The goal was to manage friction between farmers and Fulani pastoralists/herders whose cattle were grazing on farms and causing disputes. The operation typically involves a joint police-military task force to flush out unauthorised herdsmen, prevent crop destruction and manage violent clashes between local farmers and nomadic herders.

CONCLUSION

The claim that the Emir Lamido Sanusi has paid a visit to Ghana, as there is an ongoing tension against Fulani Open grazing culture, Banditry and terrorism accusations is MISLEADING. Although it is reported that Sanusi visited Ghana, this visit has no bearing to the claim.
