Ex-President Buhari’s Aide, Ahmed Uses Misleading Images For Recent Protest In Israel
The media aide to late President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmed, recently posted three images on X with the claim that Israelis are demanding for the resignation of its Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu. The post is captioned, “Israelis take to the streets demanding Benjamin Netanyahu’s resignation. They want him out.”
When this report was published, the post had about 422,200 views and over 16,100 replies, reposts, quotes, likes and bookmarks. In the comment section, @VerminusM said “This is a photo from last year. It was a demonstration of support for the hostages held in Gaza at the time.” while @Samzonal wrote “If this happens in Nigeria, you will call the protesters unpatriotic Nigerians; and you will request they wait for the next election to change government. But it is Israel, your interest is also clear”
VERIFICATION
NV-A conducted a reverse Google image search and we found that these images date back to 2023, 2024 and 2025. One image from July 2023 was taken by Reuters when protesters took to the streets as Prime Minister Netanyahu’s far-right government advanced its plan to overhaul the judiciary. Another image was captured on March 29, 2025, as thousands of Israelis rallied across the country for the release of hostages held by Hamas. The third image was captured from a video clip, showing public outrage by Israelis, over the government’s handling of the war in Gaza after the deaths of six hostages being held deep underground by Hamas.
There have been Israeli protests against Netanyahu’s continued tenure while facing legal charges. In December 2025, protesters in Tel Aviv and other cities rallied in response to Netanyahu’s request for a presidential pardon in his long-running corruption trial, arguing he should not avoid accountability and calling on him to resign instead of seeking clemency.
Former Israeli prime minister Naftali Bennett has also publicly called for Netanyahu to resign, accusing his office of misconduct related to the “Qatargate” affair, a political scandal involving alleged foreign influence which intensified domestic pressure on Netanyahu’s leadership.
The images used by Ahmed are however not related to the protests calling for Netenyhau’s resignation.
CONCLUSION
The images used in the claim are MISLEADING. They date back to protests from 2023, 2024 and 2025, and are not related to protests calling for his resignation.
