VERIFICATION
NV-A subjected the image to reverse Google image search and results showed that the image dates back to February 2022, when members of the anti-foreigners movement, popularly referred to as Operation Dudula, gathered in Orange Grove, Johannesburg for a protest.
Over the last decade, South Africa has experienced repeated waves of xenophobic violence with migrants from countries such as Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Ghana, and others frequently targeted. Recently, Reuters reported that several African governments warned their citizens about xenophobic attacks and anti-immigration protests in South Africa. Reuters also reported that some Nigerian citizens have requested repatriation due to the current wave of unrest and xenophobic attacks against other African nationals living and working in South Africa.
However, there is no verified evidence from credible news organisations confirming a large-scale or officially organised “bra protest” by Zulu women defending their foreign husbands.
CONCLUSION
The image is MISLEADING, as it is from a 2022 protest, organised by an anti-foreigners movement, Operation Dudula in South Africa. There is no evidence to support the claim that Zulu women staged a major “bra protest” to stop their Nigerian or Zimbabwean husbands from being expelled.
