VERIFICATION

According to checks, Moses Ali remains an elected Member of Parliament for Adjumani West. He was re-elected in Uganda’s 2026 general election and  sworn into Parliament afterwards.

On May 26, 2026, President Museveni announced a new Cabinet lineup and appointed Siraji Musa Ali, as Minister of State for Works and Transport. The Nile Post reports that the appointment attracted attention because it coincided with the omission of his father, Gen Moses Ali from the new Cabinet. The rise of Ali’s offspring is now being viewed by political observers as part of a carefully managed generational transition designed to maintain the family’s influence within Uganda’s political system, particularly in the West Nile region.

Cabinet appointments in Uganda are made by the president, but parliamentary seats are filled through elections, not presidential appointments. Therefore, Siraji Ali, who is a lawyer by profession, did not replace his father in Parliament.

CONCLUSION

The claim that Uganda’s president removed General Ali from parliament, and replaced him with his son is MISLEADING. He retained his parliamentary seat, while his son was separately appointed to a Cabinet position by President Museveni.
