Did Uganda’s Sports Minister Fall After Kicking A Football?
A Facebook user, Free Africa, posted a video, claiming that the man in the video is Uganda’s current sports minister. The 30 seconds video showed an obese man falling to the floor after kicking a football, with his security details at his aid to raise him up. The caption on the post reads, “Ugandan sports minister #FreeAfrica.”
When this report was published, the post had over 300 reactions, comments and shares.
VERIFICATION
NV-A subjected both images to reverse Google image search, the result revealed that the person in the video is not Uganda’s sports minister. He is the country’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Leader of government business in parliament, Retired General Moses Ali.
Also, the stadium incident occurred in August 2018 at Namboole national stadium when Retired General Moses Ali officiated a government function at the stadium. According to Galaxy FM Uganda, Ali was given a ball to show-off his football skills, which he consented to but he fell flat to the ground after shooting off the ball. This was not a sporting event.
Ali is a Ugandan politician and retired military officer. Currently, he is the Second Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Leader of Government Business in Parliament. He previously served in the Cabinet of Uganda as Third Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Leader of Government Business from May 2011 until June 2016. He also served as the first First Deputy Prime Minister from June 2016 to May 2021. He has also been the elected Member of Parliament for East Moyo County in Adjumani District since 2011. The current Minister of Education and Sports in Uganda is Honorable Janet Kataaha Museveni, who is also the country’s First Lady.

The man in the video is the country’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Leader of government business in parliament, Retired General Moses Ali. The country’s education and sports minister is the First Lady, Honorable Museveni.
