The 17 seconds video which shows people sharing bulk of money, is captioned, “The trending video allegedly claiming that Tinubu and APC members are sharing the money they’re borrowing from World Bank and China, what’s your opinion on this ”
When this report was published, the post had 2.8 million views and 49,000 reactions, comments and shares.
VERIFICATION
NV-A took screenshots of the video and subjected it to reverse Google image search and the result gave a clearer video quality, posted by northern magazine, with the caption, “Hon. Abdulkadir Rahis Has Spent Years in the National Assembly — What Are His Major Contributions to Borno? 🇳🇬”.
Abdulkadir Rahis, a Nigerian politician from Borno State and a member of the House of Representatives for the Maiduguri Metropolitan Federal Constituency under the All Progressives Congress (APC), disbursed 26 million naira to 442 APC executives in the Maiduguri Metropolitan Constituency.
Rahis, who won the APC primary with 20,509 votes, said the money was meant for Sallah celebrations and formed part of his tradition of supporting party loyalists during festive periods.
The event drew party executives, ward officials, and stakeholders from across the constituency.
On borrowings, since taking office in May 2023, the Tinubu administration has pursued significant external borrowing to finance budget deficits, economic reforms, infrastructure projects, and development programmes.
In late 2025, the Federal Government negotiated for additional World Bank loans aimed at supporting economic reforms, job creation, infrastructure, and business financing. The government has also sought loans from bilateral lenders, including Chinese institutions such as the China Exim Bank and the China Development Bank, mainly for infrastructure projects including roads and railways.
CONCLUSION
The claim that Tinubu and the APC members are sharing money is MISLEADING. Though the Tinubu administration has pursued significant external borrowing, it is meant to finance budget deficits, economic reforms, infrastructure projects, and development programmes. The video shows Abdulkadir Rahis, a Nigerian politician from Borno State, and a member of the APC, who disbursed 26 million naira to APC executives.
