Was The Kaduna State Government House Attacked By The US Military?

On February 4, 2026, a Facebook user, Ofoegbu Ejike, claimed that the Kaduna state government house had come under serious attack from U.S. forces. The post which has images of a destroyed storey building and the immediate past governor of Kaduna state, Mallam Nasir El-rufai, is captioned, “Breaking News: U.S. Air Force is currently carrying out airstrikes on the Kaduna State Government House after an alleged intelligence survey suggested the facility was being used to store weapons for terrorist groups operating in the state. According to these reports, the Government House in Kaduna has been heavily bombed and reportedly reduced to rubble. The U.S. authorities are said to believe that the state government was using the premises to conceal weapons intended for terrorist activities. Full Details Here 👇 (link redacted).

VERIFICATION

NV-A subjected the image to reverse Google image search and the “exact image” was not found but “visual matches” showed an exact building, though not damaged. A further search on the “visual match” image shows that this is not the Kaduna state government house, but Hamdalla Hotel, along Waffu road, Kaduna state.

The weblink attached at the end of the claim is a random website generator, which opens a different site on each click. A look into the real image, posted on March 9, 2025 shows the same environment, features and parked cars at the parking lot, with the distorted image, as seen in the encircled areas. If there was a blast as claimed, there would have been crowd of people rushing out of the building and also onlookers, but this was never captured, as seen below👇

The fact checker contacted Mr. Muhammed Lawan, a journalist with Kaduna State Broadcasting Corporation to confirm if there has been an attack at the Kaduna state government house or/and Hamdalla hotel. He refuted the claim saying “I just got off the call with the chief press secretary to the governor, to get some clarifications over a state function and he sounded so calm. He did not mention any such incident.” He further highlighted that the state has been relatively peaceful, while noting that an attack of such magnitude would not be hidden.

In December 2025, the United States military conducted airstrikes in coordination with Nigeria targeting Islamic State, IS, militants in Sokoto State, far from Kaduna, as part of counter-terrorism cooperation. These strikes were authorised by the Nigerian government and focused strictly on IS targets, not government facilities.

Separately, the Nigerian Air Force has been carrying out precision strikes against militants and bandits in Kaduna and other northern states. These operations target insurgent hideouts and weapons caches based on local intelligence but they are Nigerian military operations, not U.S. Air Force actions.

There have been no reports from credible local or/and international media, the Nigerian government, Kaduna state government, Department of War nor the U.S. government verifying an attack on a weapons storing facility in Kaduna, Nigeria.

CONCLUSION

The claim that the Kaduna state government house was under serious attack from the U.S. forces is FALSE. The image is not the Kaduna state government house but Hamdalla hotel located in Kaduna state. Also, a journalist on ground in Kaduna state refuted such a claim.
