Is Biafra Republic On The World Map Now With A Globally Recognised ID Card?
On March 20, 2026 an X user @BLA_Network made claims that the United States of Biafra is established on the world map, and that its citizens have begun using USB ID cards in countries abroad. The post had an image of Dr. Ngozi Orabueze, an alleged Biafra Prime Minister, with the caption “The United States of Biafra Map is well established on the world map and Biafra Citizens have started using their USB ID cards concurrently in their countries of residence abroad Our lobbyists and legal team are doing a great job Biafrans be happy and stay the course. #DPM”
When this report was published, this claim had about 720 views and over 110 replies, reposts, quotes, likes, and bookmarks.

CLAIM 1: The United States Of Biafra Map Is Well Established On The World Map
On November 29, 2024, Biafrans under the leadership of Simon Ekpa declared the restoration of Biafra during a convention in Lahti, Finland, officially adopting the name United States of Biafra. A map of a proposed 40-state configuration was also unveiled by the group.
However, this declaration has no international legal standing. The United States of Biafra is not recognised by any sovereign nation like The US, the United Kingdom or Nigeria, is not recognised by the UN and not a member state, and does not appear on any internationally accepted world map. It remains the territory of Nigeria under international law.
A review of recent global maps from Worldometer does not show Biafra as a recognised country. Similarly, a closer look at maps of Nigeria and Cameroon, including the areas claimed by Biafra supporters, shows no indication of any such state.
